2006 APEC Youth Forum: Sustainable Development and Intensifying Co-operation

More than 40 delegates of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) met in Hanoi on 2-4 August. The conference focused on four aspects of sustainable develoment, including society, environment, economy and institution.

While "slow news" for mainstream press, this is the kind of initiative that enables participants to learn from each other, strengthening knowledge and contributing to friendly relations, solidarity and cooperation.

This is the kind of initiative the Africans were talking about from their recent conference: of giving the people their own voice and allowing them to share their own experiences. This kind of networking enables people to find solutions to problems without being dependent on the investment of funds, military protection, or economic justifications.

The participants of the APEC forum obviously understood this as they committed to set up a network to enable the exchange of ideas and knowledge about global matters, intensifying exchange of the youth in the region and promoting their positive and constructive roles.
